Timothy was born in Afghanistan. He is 7 years old. His parents fled the country when he was a toddler and he has been living in Central Asia ever since. Timothy’s parents have not been able to get refugee status from the local authorities; at present they have short-term temporary papers. As a consequence, Timothy’s parents are not permitted to work. Without refugee status it is also difficult to get Timothy into a local school. He does not speak any of the local languages.
In the long run, Timothy and his family hope to be accepted as refugees and move to an English-speaking country. Timothy has already learned some English through watching cartoons on the internet. He is quiet and lacks opportunities for social interaction with other children. He has a younger brother who is 2 years old.
Timothy’s family have been part of a PI worker’s church family for the last 18 months. They are in regular contact with them.
Our desire is to raise funds for Timothy to attend an international English speaking school. This will prepare him well for the future.
We invite you to help partner with us to send Timothy to school in January (his first semester is being covered by another source). A friend of People International Canada has offered to match any gifts up to $1200. Please consider what you might do to help send Timothy back to school. Please indicate separately that the gift is for Timothy.
Our goal by January 31, 2023 is to raise the full $2400 (CDN) needed.
